  1. Rafa again displaying his 2016 game… low energy and lethargically moving around the court, pushing balls back, spankable serves, tonnes of mid-court balls. And hoping to win the match with sheer will and determination, rather than shot making ability. Still managed to take it to 3 sets though!
If he had played anywhere near his 2017 FO win, Shapovalov would have been blown off the court.

  2. Rafa is going to win Cincinnati and US Open. This loss would prove to be a blessing in disguise, providing him with much needed rest. At this stage of his career, two back to back 1000 Masters series would have taken its toll on his body. So, it's good that he lost today, so that he can remain fresh for Cincinnati and US Open.

  3. WOOWW MAN DENIS I'M SO PROUD OF YOU I BELIEVED IN YOU DURING ALL THE GAME !! WATH YOU DID WAS SIMPLY EPIC !! MAN YOU ARE MY IDOL πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ !! WOULD BE SO COOL TO PLAY JUST FIVE MINUTE WITH YOU !!!!

  4. Wow nice job. It was a great match and both players played awesome. It's tough being Rafa….he is expected to win…that makes it doubly tough. Like Fed against Ferrer and Ferrer wins the first set. I am sure there were ppl holding their breath for Fed.

It's just nice to see this young fella break through on home turf against one of the toughest opponents ever.

I have noticed though that Rafa has more trouble playing lefties.

    Anyway. Well done…inspiring match.

Good luck in the next match

  5. Ffs it's so annoying being a Nadal fan. Yes shapovalov played pretty well but Nadal again chokes in important moments. He's always done that throughout his whole career. It's so disappointing, I live in England so I stayed up until past midnight and the match finished around 4, so I'm going to be more pissed off than usual as I'm tired but ffs Rafa come on. Anyway congratulations to Denis he played very well

  6. lol at 18yo beating the Mental Giant time wasting cheat that is Rafa
